Chatsworth Road Traders and Residents Association CIC (CRTRA), registration no. 8087117 is a not-for-profit organisation.

We aim to offer a voice to local traders and residents. We’re committed to promoting Chatsworth Road as a vibrant high street, as a safe and enjoyable public space, and as the community hub for a large and highly diverse residential area (see our vision statement here).

The current committee consitts of 10 elected volunteers:

Resident representative 2: Diane Cunningham
Resident representative 3: Robert Bull
Shop owner representative 1: Octavia Landy
Shop owner representative 2: Remy Zentar
Market trader representative: Leon Sendzikas

Each Committee member is expected to fulfill two basic roles:

1. Representation

  • Maintain an open dialogue with as many local residents/businesses as possible to ensure you are up to date with peoples issues
  • Promote the activities of the CRTRA through word-of-mouth to the local community
  • Communicate to the association the views and opinions of the wider community
  • Attend the monthly Committee meetings and take part all decision making processes

2. Workstreams

  • Be involved in one of the 7 Workstreams (A-G) set out below and take full responsibility for at least one of the tasks listed under that Workstream.

 

As well as this the Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary and Treasurer have the added responsibilities listed below:

Chair

  • Keeps an overview over all Workstreams
  • Writes the CRTRA newsletter
  • Chairs committee meetings
  • Produces annual report for AGM

Vice Chair

  • Deputises for the chair when necessary
  • Helps write the CRTRA newsletter
  • Helps produce the annual report for the AGM

Treasurer

  • Keeps and overview of the CRTRA finances and updates the committee monthly
  • Highlights any inconsistencies or emerging financial issues in a timely manner
  • Produces the final year accounts and summary

Secretary

  • Ensures all CRTRA activities are in accordance to its constitution
  • Takes minutes at committee meetings

 

Workstreams

A.    Shops

  1. Keep the database of local businesses and landlords up to date
  2. Maintain relationship with local landlords and business owners
  3. Monitor planning applications on the street
  4. Monitor vacant properties
  5. Respond to property enquiries
  6. Facilitate growth of businesses that are in line with the CRTRA objectives

B.    Market

  1. Attend market meetings with Hackney Council
  2. Maintain a good relationship with all relevant officers in the market department
  3. Oversee Market Managers
  4. Influences the evolution of the market in line with CRTRA objectives
  5. Manages market waiting list
  6. Responds to stall enquiries
  7. Manage the transition between rented to owned stalls

C.      Membership/loyalty card

  1. Check CRTRA stall is set up weekly
  2. Add new members to Mailchimp list and send welcome email
  3. Keep contact with shops offering discounts and work to get more involved
  4. Develop alternative ways for membership sign up
  5. Coordinate members newsletter

D.    Marketing

  1. Promotes CRTRA + market to the local clapton and hackney wide community through  events selling stories into local media,  advertising campaigns
  2. Coordinates the publicity and graphic material for events through Communications and Events Organising Workstreams

E.    Communications

  1. Update twitter and facebook
  2. Answer queries via social media and forum
  3. Monitor and contributes to Yeahhackney
  4. Updates website
  5. Monitors email
  6. Updates noticeboard
  7. Manages mailing lists

F.    Event Organising

  1. Conceives and organises events in line with marketing Workstream
  2. Mobilises a team of volunteers to help run events
  3. Coordinates with marketing Workstream to produce publicity and graphic material for events

G.    Finance

  1. Keep an overview on the the CRTRA’s finances
  2. Complete annual returns and any financial documentation that may be required
