Join us as a market trader

If you are interested in applying for a stall, download the info sheet for full details of costs and trading terms before you complete the form. Please note any email enquiries we receive are also asked to fill in this form to be added to the waiting list. You will only hear from us if we have space otherwise you will remain on the list until that happens.

CRTRA organise and promote the market with the council – London Borough of Hackney (LBH). LBH deliver it from a legislative point of view – stall licensing, checking people have public liability insurance, market inspectors present on the day etc – as the market takes place on a public highway.

Please note the following

  • We are currently seeking new traders who will compliment our offering. We do however have a waiting list for street food
  • There are currently only spaces to trade in the metal framed traditional market stalls which measure 8ft x 6ft or 2.4m x 1.8m. This means that should you have your own gazebo (or need one from us), we cannot accommodate you at the moment. However, you should still apply so you are on the list for when we expand.
  • We do not offer one off or trial trading opportunities (due to council licencing)
  • If you are a charity or a non profit organisation we offer one free stall per week subject to their being space. Please email us directly (rather than filling in the form) with the date you wish to trade and your charity registration number.
  • If you are receiving benefits and live locally, consider applying for our Kick Start programme.

Apply (after downloading the info sheet)

If you’ve read the info sheet and are keen to join us, please complete your details below.

About applying

  • Preference will be given to those traders that will benefit the growth of the market and will create a balance of offerings in conjunction with current market traders and shop offerings. For example: we will not be recommending any more coffee sellers as Chatsworth Road has a number of cafes and we have one stall already, same applies for crepes and pizza.
  • We are not currently looking for any new street food traders as we don’t have space but we will add you to the waiting list.
  • Alcohol cannot be sold on the street so we can’t progress any applications for craft beer, wine, cocktails etc.
  • We don’t have any space for vehicles eg: street food van on the street (unless it will fit under a gazebo when we expand).
  • We are all out of electricity options so you will need to use gas if you need power.
  • Please ensure you pick one commodity category only from those given on the form.
  • Hackney Council (LBH) is responsible for licensing stallholders and in the case of selling food ensuring that you hold a food hygiene certificate.
  • If space is available and your commodity fits, we will contact you with more information as to how to proceed.
  • You need a letter from us to approach the council for your licence so unless we have sent you this, you will remain on the waiting list.

Please note we do not have the resource to reply to applications. After submitting the form the page will go back to the top which means your application has been sent. If your commodity fits we will be in touch asap to get you licenced. If you don’t hear from us, you will stay on the list until we have a need for your commodity or we have more stalls available. Please feel free to contact for an update ( if it’s been more than a month since you submitted your form or keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
