Strong turnout takes the Association and market campaign to exciting new stage
Tuesday October 13th saw 56 traders & residents turn up to a public meeting at Chats Palace – and it’s a credit to local community spirit that over half of them volunteered.
The meeting managed to discuss, agree & ratify a new constitution for running the Association – no mean feat! – and then held an election for the new Executive Committee.
The Executive Committee is the body that will manage the Association in accordance with the objectives and procedures set out in the constitution (shortly to be posted up here.) It’s our pleasure to announce that the following 10 people were duly elected:
Chair: Gregg Shokoya (trader)
Vice-Chair: Sacha Crowe (resident)
Secretary: Catherine Ford (resident)
Treasurer: Remy Zentar (trader)
Patricia Bennett (resident)
Martin Slavin (resident)
Roger Lansdowne (resident)
Bola Yusuff (trader)
Dan Harriott (trader)
Gareth Fitzwater (resident)
A new market sub-committee was also formed by a further group of 23 volunteers. This working group will aim to take the market campaign forwards innovatively and energetically, reporting to the Executive.
If you want to help or feel you have something to offer the market campaign please get in touch. We’re keen to involve as wide a group of people as possible – no direct experience needed, just a passion for Chatsworth Road as your brilliant local independent high street.

Well done to all those that volunteered! Was a great turn out and you can’t help but feel positive about the campaign after seeing so many people wanting to help…
Pete (Banister House)
great to visit at the weekend, looks like there’s a real lively buzz about the place;
heard about a Christmas festival idea alongside that of getting a Saturday market together, both would be fantastic, :~)
(an idea: would be nice to browse the range of shops – and their websites – on the street, perhaps via this website)
Howard, thanks for the support, we’re looking at that exact idea of getting a full directory of Chatsworth Road shops and services available on this website sometime in 2010! Cheers.
Does anyone know what is happening with this? Has it lost momentum?
It’s all revving up again and aiming to get a market up and running in some early form for the summer.
There’s a new market committee and there getting things moving. Watch this space.
