Christmas comes to Chatsworth Road
– First ever Winter Festival for the independent high street in Clapton –
It’s often said that Christmas is a time of giving and sharing, and this year the residents and traders of East London’s Chatsworth Road are making it easier than ever. Come together and SHARE a festive experience with friends and family at the first ever Chatsworth Road Winter Festival, and GIVE back to the local community and support independent retailers by buying local this Christmas.
On Sunday 13th December the popular weekly market will be closed to traffic for the Winter Festival and will welcome live music, a dog show, free pet micro chipping and a licenced bar run by independent brewery, Brew by Numbers. And of course no Christmas party is complete without a visit from Santa.
The many market traders and independent shops will be opening their stalls and doors until 9pm, offering an eclectic range of gifts from the UK and abroad. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover new products and brands and tick off your Christmas gift list at the same time. The award winning food stalls and restaurants that line the street will be serving up delicious food and drinks, keeping spirits high throughout the day.
A selection of shops will also be running late night openings on Thurs 10th and Thurs 17th December, giving those that work full time the flexibility and opportunity to shop locally. Shops include Botany, Triangle, The Hackney Draper, Johnny’s, LBJ, Brahms & Liszt, Pack and Clowder and Cooper & Wolf (3rd and 17th only) – L’Epicerie56, Everything but the Dog and Factory Press (17th only). And don’t forget the Chatsworth Road Market will run as usual on the 6th and 20th December too.

About the Festival
The Chatsworth Road Winter Festival is being held on Sunday 13th December 2015 between 11am – 9pm. In addition the Sunday Market will trade as usual on Sunday 6th and Sunday 20th December. Select Chatsworth Road shops will also be holding late night openings on Thursday 10th and Thursday 17th December, until 9pm.
The festival is free to attend due to support from local shops and market traders.
This is the first Winter Festival, building on the success of ChatsFest. Revived in 2012 and held in September, the 2015 event attracted almost 10,000 people.
About Chatsworth Road
Chatsworth Road runs between Homerton and Lower Clapton in the east of the London Borough of Hackney. It is situated a short walk from Millfields Park, the River Lea and Hackney Marshes. Bucking the national trend, the high street is made up primarily of independent shops and businesses and several new businesses have reopened in the last few years. The Sunday street market was reintroduced in 2011.
The market recently won a Time Out Love London Award for best local shopping experience.
