In its 1930s heyday Chatsworth Road market is reported to have had up to 200 stalls running 4‐5 days a week, extending along the full length of the street. The number of stalls and market days decreased slowly in post‐war years until the market eventually closed around 1990.
After many years of campaigning by local residents and traders, the market returned in 2010 and has been running weekly since June 2011.
The market is established as a regular Sunday market used by local people and is continuing to grow, providing a place to shop, meet friends or entertain the kids.
As of 31 March 2018 the market is now run by Hackney Council and any stall applications need to go to them. You can apply on their website here.
